Megaman II:
Art Deco illustration study.

This mashup inspired from the 1927 film Metropolis and the title screen of the 1989 NES game Mega Man 2. This was an exercise study on the illustrative aesthetics from the Art Deco period of design.

In this Art Deco inspired piece, I worked outside of my comfort zone and heavily used gradients. This was the first time I primarily used the Mesh Tool and it did a great job in giving the character excellent dimension. I used the Gradient Tool and tranparencies for buildings and spotlights in the background.

While the original Metropolis poster used varied densities of black on a yellow surface, I used two different hues of blue with their respective shades. The light blue created a greater visual impact than using the dark blue alone.
